📙 Part 2: Describe someone you like to spend time with

M: Rory, are you ready?

R: Yes.

M: Bring it on.

R: Well, I could talk about one of my friends. But I suppose one I haven't spoken about yet in any great detail is my friend Rob. He's quite close friend. And we've known each other for well over a decade now I come to think of it. We should have met sooner, actually, since as it turned out, we have a lot of mutual friends. And we'd spoken online before. But for whatever reason, that just never happened. Anyway, we met on a night out when I was speaking to one of my other friends at the time, who said that his friend Rob was coming. And I realized that we were speaking about the same person or we were thinking about the same person. I mean, were talking. And then when we were introduced, it was actually like meeting an old friend. Even though it was the first time we met in person. We've got rather similar senses of humor and values, though I wouldn't say they're identical, because if they were exactly the same, then what would be the point on, well, having any kind of conversation. We also have a shared appreciation for the work of Kylie Minogue. Although his is much more pronounced than mine, because, like his entire apartment is a shrine to Kylie Minogue. Conversely, I am much more forthright and outspoken just in general. Whenever we meet up, we share stories for our life since well, the last time we saw each other. And sometimes tell the same stories we've heard before to sort of relive the old times. Once the alcohol gets flowing, though, there's a lot of singing as well. Usually very bad in my case, because I can't hold a tune, but he can. I really value his friendship for the same reasons that anyone likes having a friend, it's nice to having someone to share things with in a sort of non-judgmental way, or at least have a meeting of minds on key issues. And almost have a language of our own, in terms of like the vocabulary involved. I think most close friendships share those features. So I'm glad to have a person like him in my life.

M: And do you often see this person?

R: As often as I can. Yeah.
